New Jersey State Health Assessment Data

Welcome! Newer Data

New Jersey public health data have never been so accessible as they are now through the New Jersey State Health Assessment Data (NJSHAD) system. NJSHAD is an interactive query system that provides users with customized tables and maps of New Jersey health data. For instance, using NJSHAD, you may now find community-level information such as:

  • the percentage of mothers receiving first trimester prenatal care
  • the number of births to teenagers
  • the percentage of deaths due to HIV disease
  • the motor vehicle injury death rate
  • the number of marriages in September
These are just a small sample of the health indicators available through NJSHAD. Click here to see a step-by-step example of a search using NJSHAD.

Community-level data are also available through the Center for Health Statistics' standard reports and tables, which are online at www.state.nj.us/health/chs. However, NJSHAD is available for those who want to access more in-depth data not included in the standard reports or tables.

Currently, the Center for Health Statistics is in the process of implementing web-based custom report creation. As we assess the performance of the currently available NJSHAD offerings, more datasets will be added as well as additional years of data for the existing datasets.

For more information on the Center for Health Statistics or NJSHAD, you may click the appropriate links on top of this page. Enjoy this new query system and please be sure to send feedback to alert us of ways to improve NJSHAD.
